Sea Shanty Café

A complete new build restaurant and cafe on the site of a former “shack” that existed on the site in the 1970’s & 80’s.

The project was a culmination of over ten years planning by the client to bring back the essence of the original shack but on a larger scale.

The project was started in early 2015 and was completed in Summer of 2016, it comprises seating for 140 covers, an ice cream parlour and an external deck, which has recently undergone some expansion and improvements to provide further covered area and deck seating during the Covid-19 pandemic.


Dinghy’s and boats suspended from the structural trusses are: Cadet, G P 14, International 12, Half Rater, Heron, Myth, Optimist, Mirror Dinghy. There are also two model clinker built unclassified boats at the dune end, four foot and two foot.

Later in the year, they are putting up an Insect, one of only two remaining 12 foot dinghy s of this 100 year old class. She will go up where the Cadet is now and the Cadet will go up at the dune end left of the bar. In the annex (new extension) the structural pillar is the bottom section of the mizen mast of the Baltic cutter Glacier built in 1899 in Finland.
