We where engaged to look at the site, design and apply for a replacement dwelling. The site is not on main gas and therefore we advised the client to explore the idea of using a ground source heat pump. The design incorporated maximum day lighting throughout the dwelling maximising views of Snowdonia. The main structure was a timber frame, with masonry and cedar exterior. The energy system incorporates Ground Source Heating coupled with Solar Hot Water and under floor heating, other sustainable features include a Rainwater Harvesting System to minimise water consumption. Following completion of the garage the main dwelling was commenced in the August of 2020 with a client brief for a Georgian style dwelling and attached greenhouse. There were a few issues in the ground with the soil conditions not s expected however the Builder John Raffles overcame these and the work progressed. The detail to which the client went on every aspect was fantastic and everything down to the finishes and sanitary appliances was specified ahead of the build. The house itself is probably the work of Joseph Owen an Architect who practiced out of Uxbridge Square in Menai Bridge he was the County Architect and the house carries some of his stylistic hallmarks similar to Carreg Lwyd in Menai Bridge & Doldir in Llangefni.
