Llydiart Y Clo was purchased by our clients as a holiday get away a couple of months prior to our engagement and quickly realised that the property would be to small for all the family to visit at the same time.
The brief given was to provide an extension which incorporated two double bedrooms and a shower room, maximising the view over to Snowdon. We quickly identified a couple of potential issues with extending the property, the first being the existing cottage was built up against the rock face to the rear and security as the property is fairly remote.
I designed the modern extension with a mono pitched roof sloping up towards the rock face to firstly give a fresh look to the cottage, secondly maximise the view and glazing from the bedrooms onto the small balcony area and views in the distance and thirdly to prevent potential intruders gaining access onto the mono pitched roof and into the property through any roof lights.
The extension and alterations exceeded the clients expectations and we have gained additional work in the area as a result.
The project was completed towards the end of summer 2011
